Materials Acceptance Policies

Sarasota Architectural Salvage specializes in unique and historic building components. We are happy to purchase select items as well as accepting donations and consignments of items. Because we have limited space, we accept only select materials. General criteria for acceptance of materials is listed below:

General Criteria for acceptance of all materials

NOTE: When bringing us materials, it is always best to call first to check current stock levels and interest in the material! All items must be in good condition. Please use your best judgment and call with questions before you remove it or haul it to us. We reserve the right to refuse any material.

Our list of desired items changes frequently. Currently we are looking for the following items:

Iron gates, fences, wall pieces, etc.
Fountains and other garden items
Stained Glass windows - especially old and in good condition
Balustrades, Finials, Corbels, Columns
Claw foot tubs - any size
Old sinks
Vintage lighting fixtures - interior and exterior
Tin ceiling pieces
Old wood flooring - heart pine, oak, chestnut

We will not accept materials of any kind that are:

DAMAGED beyond repair
Items containing hazardous materials such as PCBs or Asbestos
Liquid or Chemical (paint, glue, caulk, older fluorescent light ballasts, etc.)

Doors that we accept:

Solid, paneled doors
Doors with historical value, unique style or unique wood

Doors we do not accept:

Doors with rot, termite damage or warped due to water damage
Hollow core doors
Doors with kitty or doggie doors or holes of any kind
Commercial slab doors with vertical windows
Doors with fogged thermal pane glass

Windows that we accept:

Old Single and multiple pane wood windows free of rot
Prefer 1920's and older with original wavy glass
Casement windows with original hardware
Stained Glass windows - vintage preferred
Half round windows if vintage and old transoms of any shape and style

Windows we do not accept:

Aluminum, steel or vinyl windows
Sizes larger than 5' x 5' unless special in some way
Sliding glass patio doors
New windows of any size or style

Dimensional Lumber & Beams that we accept:

Exterior and interior siding from buildings older than 1940
Heart pine, oak or other old wood - (must be longer than 4 ft and denailed!)
Finished lumber and flooring

Lumber and Flooring we do not accept:

Flooring with split or broken tongues or grooves
Water damaged, rotted or twisted wood of any kind
Used engineered flooring
Heavily painted wood flooring
Rolls of linoleum or vinyl flooring
Wood that has been creosote or arsenic treated

Lighting that we accept:

Vintage ceiling and wall lights and sconces
Outside lamps -pre-1950
Hanging lights if unusual or vintage
Stained glass lights if unusual or vintage

Lighting we do not accept:

Fluorescent lights of any kind
Lights newer than 1950's unless very unusual

Plumbing Fixtures that we accept:

Claw foot tubs of any kind and most conditions
Porcelain sinks if older than 1950's
Select pink, avocado green and harvest gold sinks
Toilet covers of any size
Pedestal sinks if older than 1940's

Plumbing Fixtures we do not accept:

Any porcelain fixture with cracks in the bowl.
Toilets
Stainless steel or new sinks
Shower doors of any kind
